They only said the event will be held \u201cby\u201d the summer of 2021. For now I personally look for answers to these three questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Where do my purchased tickets go? <\/li><li>How do I deal with my booked flight tickets?<\/li><li>Can I really go to Japan for the Olympics?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#53585d\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-light-gray-color\"><strong>My Tickets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far I have purchased Olympics tickets for\u00a0<strong>25 sessions of 13 events<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>of<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>11 competitions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I already spent more than a few thousand bucks, so that it would be most painful scenario that I lose all tickets without any refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I checked the Terms and Conditions that we need to agree to in CoSport ticket purchase process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"274\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TermsAndConditions_postponed-3.png?resize=525%2C274&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-578\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TermsAndConditions_postponed-3.png?resize=1024%2C534&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TermsAndConditions_postponed-3.png?resize=300%2C157&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TermsAndConditions_postponed-3.png?resize=768%2C401&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TermsAndConditions_postponed-3.png?w=1460&amp;ssl=1 1460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTickets for Events that have been rescheduled or postponed are valid for the Event with the same Session code at the rescheduled day and\/or time<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It sounds like the tickets we have purchased\u00a0<strong>will remain valid<\/strong>\u00a0without being canceled or released\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CoSport sent an email to ticket holders on the day after the postponement announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"419\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mail-from-CoSport-1.png?resize=525%2C419&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-580\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mail-from-CoSport-1.png?w=582&amp;ssl=1 582w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mail-from-CoSport-1.png?resize=300%2C239&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cCoSport Tokyo 2020 purchases will be honored at the Games in 2021<\/em>\u2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I need to figure out what \u201cWill be honored\u201d exactly mean, but it seems unlikely that the tickets we bought will be canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#53585d\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-light-gray-color\"><strong>Competition Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competition schedule may change within the two week range of the event. I may end up with having unexpected conflicts of sessions.\u00a0I\u2019m still not sure if it\u2019s possible to cancel or change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schedule change may get rid of conflicts. In my case, baseball final and men\u2019s soccer final are conflicting. The same goes to basketball preliminary and weightlifting. I hope I won\u2019t need to give up on some of the tickets I already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#53585d\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-light-gray-color\"><strong>Flight Tickets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what I care most about.\u00a0I have purchased non-refundable round-trip air tickets between Seattle and Tokyo for my family, so I have no choice but to cancel and re-book ones to accommodate with the date changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Checking website of the airline company, the status looks quite interesting due to travel restrictions because of the current Covid-19 situation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"315\" height=\"148\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ABA.png?resize=315%2C148&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-581\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ABA.png?w=315&amp;ssl=1 315w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/olympics.burpsonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ABA.png?resize=300%2C141&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What is the \u201c<em>Subject to government approval<\/em>\u201c? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In any case, I won\u2019t be able to take any action until the IOC announces a new competition schedule, given the current situation of the Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#53585d\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-light-gray-color\"><strong>Can I really go to Japan?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCan my family really go to Japan next year?\u201d The answer would be different depending on whether the event is postponed to spring or summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><strong>If postponed to spring of 2021<\/strong><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a rumor where the Olympics get postponed to next spring.\u00a0It\u2019s one of the best seasons in Tokyo from weather perspective.\u00a0However, because kids still have schools to go to in the United States, we have a risk that kids may not be accompanied.\u00a0Adults are also drawn to it.\u00a0Inevitably, that makes us difficult to travel to Japan.\u00a0Kids in the States have one week spring break in first half of April, so I have a slight expectation that I\u2019ll have to tie it up, but that\u2019s not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, is it realistic to postpone the entire event to Spring?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is when Basketball NBA is at a full swing. They won\u2019t be able to form the America dream team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boxing will be difficult to rent at the Kokugikan hall if it coincides with Grand Sumo competition in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Golf has the Masters tournament in early April and PGA Championship in May.\u00a0If they conflict with the Olympics, top players will not prioritize the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><strong>If postponed to summer of 2021<\/strong><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the United States, when you say \u201cexecuting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by<\/span>\u201c, it means \u201cexecuting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in<\/span>\u201d at least in my company.\u00a0In other words, \u201cheld by summer\u201d is usually taken as \u201cheld in summer,\u201d and it is often what happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kids summer vacation starts in late June, so it\u2019s best to move the dates to summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it\u2019s super hot and humid in summer in Tokyo.\u00a0It\u2019s when you get a lot of mosquitoes to bite.\u00a0I haven\u2019t seen any mosquitoes or cockroaches for the last few years as Seattle does not have them.\u00a0I will be super depressed just because I have to deal with mosquitoes that I hate the most in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wish I could go to Tokyo in a kid-friendly season when there are no mosquitoes, but I know this is the \u201csummer\u201d Olympic games\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#3ca0ca\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-light-gray-color\"><strong>What if the Olympics gets canceled?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Possibly, except for the case where the Covid-19 situation lasts longer than expected and next year\u2019s events are also jeopardized, the \u201cOlympic cancellation\u201d scenario will unlikely happen, but I originally started to work on this entry based on the assumption\/rumor that the Olympics will be canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what if the Olympic Games get canceled due to Covid-19?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to CoSport and the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (\u2026 long!
